My art practice has a direct relationship with my everyday life. It lies in the field of subjectivity. My current focus is the essence of being with oneself. The stillness of being, my own stillness and allowing myself 'to be'. The work is an open investigation into embodied experience through the lens of a woman artist. I undertake a breadth of experimental approaches, using breath, dust and light as starting points, and draw on the mediums of film, sound and stitch work to bring the work into form. Using stitch as a drawing tool, I draw the sounds I record, the work is hung as if floating and can be viewed with a torch, thus creating new marks, taking on ambiguous and ephemeral qualities.
My research field is one of open investigation into various critical frameworks and artists, and is a generative proccess within my practice. I am currently looking at Eva Hesse and Edith Dekyndt - appreciating their constant process of trying to externalise the internal, whilst also enjoying the work and writings of John Cage. "I am not interested in being an anything. I'm just exploring my experiences" John Cage
My aim is to sustain a deep level of enquiry within my practice, and be trusting of the process.
